Siem Reap, Cambodia, December 2006..Mi Tan Hiu, 31, lives in very precarious conditions among dozens of TB patients in insalubrious barracks at the back of the Provincial Hospital compound. He is trying to 'sleep to forget his pain'. TB is endemic in the region, fueled by poverty, malnutrition, inadequate hygiene and the spreading of HIV/AIDS. The percentage of drug-resistant TB strains is on a sharp rise due to inadequate treatments.
