Sahara desert, Libya-Chad, November/December 2004..Every week, a convoy of 40 privately owned Libyan trucks loaded by the WFP with about 1000 metric tons of western food aid cross 2500 km of deep desert across Libya and Chad to reach more than 200 000 refugees from Darfur in camps near the Sudanese border. Abdallah, a Sudanese mechanic, has to adapt tyre pressure to the type of sand encontered dozens of times every day...each truck has 10 tyres...it is a very lenghty process...
