Siem Reap, Cambodia, December 2006..A rare smile. Dozens of TB patients live in very precarious conditions in 4 insalubrious barracks at the back of the Provincial Hospital compound. TB is endemic in the region, fueled by poverty, malnutrition, inadequate hygiene and the spreading of HIV/AIDS. The percentage of drug-resistant TB strains is on a sharp rise due to inadequate treatments.
